You’ve noticed that your child is anxious and that it is getting in the way of living a happy life.
You’re watching them struggle with their anxiety and you’re ready to find support.
Research has shown that one in 8 children suffer from an anxiety disorder, and anxiety problems typically begin in childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. While the exact cause of anxiety disorders is unknown, a combination of several factors is believed to contribute to the formation of significant anxiety symptoms including: genetics, brain chemistry, early life and family of origin experiences and personality.
The most common anxiety disorders are:
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Social Anxiety Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Have you noticed you child struggling with anxiety around getting good grades, building friendships, etc…
Have you noticed that they’re afraid to try new things and worry a lot about being good and doing the right thing? They are getting caught up in a cycle of worried behavior. Suddenly, their life went from happy to just trying to get through the day without feeling anxious.
The anxiety seems to be changing their personality.
The child may benefit from a psychiatric assessment and evaluation. Medication is not for everyone; however, a good psychiatric assessment may yield beneficial management and treatments (alternative and or conventional) that may be suitable for your child.
